National Science Foundation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Senate Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Science and Space has scheduled a hearing on the National Science Foundation (NSF) on May 2, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. in room 562 of the Dirksen Building. The hearing will focus on NSF's Fiscal Year 2007 budget request, research priorities, current plans and activities, and its support for the American Competitiveness Initiative and related activities. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) will preside. The witnesses are: PANEL I Dr. Arden L. Bement, Jr., Director, National Science Foundation Dr. Warren M. Washington, Chairman, National Science Board PANEL II Dr. Alan L. Leshner, Chief Executive Officer, American Association for the Advancement of Science Dr. Jerome Odom, Professor of Chemistry and former Provost, University of South Carolina
