At this hearing, the subcommittee will examine whether the GDP constitutes an accurate reflection of economic growth and social well-being, which factors are included in and excluded from the calculation of the GDP, and how national policy and decision making are impacted by emphasis placed on the GDP. Senator Byron L. Dorgan (D-N.D.) will preside.
