Hutchison Statement on Nomination of Ms. Ann Begeman to the Surface Transportation Board

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas),
Ranking Member on the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee,
today made the following statement after President Barack Obama nominated Ms.
Ann D. Begeman, current Republican Staff Director of the Commerce Committee, to
be a member of the Surface Transportation Board. Ms. Begeman was
nominated for a Republican slot on the Board that oversees railroad rate and
service disputes.
“I am delighted the President has nominated such a
knowledgeable and accomplished individual like Ann Begeman to the Surface
Transportation Board. Ms. Begeman’s extensive experience and
institutional knowledge on surface transportation issues will allow her to make
an immediate impact on the many crucial rail issues facing our nation.
Ann has been an invaluable member of my team on the Commerce Committee and is a
true professional. I look forward to working with Chairman Rockefeller to
ensure her nomination process moves swiftly.”
