January 21, 2011
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senator John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV, Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, and Representative Henry A. Waxman, Ranking Member of the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce, released the following statement after Verizon Communications filed an appeal challenging the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Report and Order on Net neutrality rules:
“Verizon has the legal right to do this, but we are disappointed that they filed suit. We support the FCC’s efforts because they will protect consumers and provide companies with the certainty they need to make investments in our growing digital economy.“
