Hutchison bill on expedited airport screening for troops now law
“Our nation’s military personnel have earned the right from a grateful nation to go to the front of the line.”
January 4, 2012
Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison’s (R-TX) Trust Our Troops Act, which would expedite airport screening for service members and their families traveling on orders, was signed into law late yesterday by the President. This legislation passed in the Senate on December 13, 2011 and in the House on December 20, 2011.
“Our nation's military personnel have earned the right from a grateful nation to go to the front of the line,” said Sen. Hutchison. “I think the vast majority of Americans would agree that our servicemen and women make sacrifices for our nation every day. The least we can do is make their lives - and the lives of their family members - easier when they travel on official orders around the country they defend. Congress has sent a unanimous decision that this is the right thing to do, and I am pleased that the President has signed it into law.”
Congressman Chip Cravaack (R-MN-08) sponsored the House version of the bill.
