Chairman of Joint Chiefs Urges Senate to Act on Cyber Bill
August 1, 2012
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Chairman John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV yesterday sought the professional military advice of the nation’s highest-ranking military officer in the U.S. Armed Forces in a letter to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin E. Dempsey. In a response to Chairman Rockefeller, General Dempsey today urged the Senate to act immediately on comprehensive cybersecurity legislation.
General Dempsey’s support for cybersecurity legislation comes one day after our nation’s top military and intelligence official on cybersecurity issues, General Keith Alexander, urged immediate Senate passage of the revised Cybersecurity Act of 2012 to strengthen our nation’s economic and national security.
