WASHINGTON, D.C.— In a letter to Chairman John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV, John Brennan, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, wrote that the President is determined to protect the nation against cyber threats through existing executive authorities, including an Executive Order to secure critical infrastructure in partnership with the private sector. 

Rockefeller urged the President in a letter on August 13, 2012 to protect our nation’s economic and national security by issuing an Executive Order to implement many provisions of the Cybersecurity Act of 2012. Rockefeller’s letter followed the professional military advice of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Martin Dempsey, and Commander of U.S. Cyber Command, General Keith Alexander, to act on comprehensive Senate legislation that would strengthen our nation’s cybersecurity.
