Thune Pledges to Work with TSA Administrator on Agency Challenges

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee Chairman John Thune (R-S.D.) issued the following statement on Senate confirmation of Vice Admiral Peter Neffenger to serve as the next administrator of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and pledging to work to make the agency more accountable:
 
“The TSA now has a strong leader to bring cultural change to the agency. As Administrator Neffenger moves forward with efforts to address challenges, I stand ready to help him ensure the agency is prepared to meet the challenge of a continuously changing threat environment. The difficult work for TSA and its workforce is still ahead.”

The Senate Commerce Committee has legislative and oversight jurisdiction over TSA and approved Vice Admiral Neffenger’s nomination on June 4, 2015.
