Thune Congratulates Rep. Walden on Selection as Next House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, issued the following statement on the selection of Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.) as chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
“As a subcommittee chairman responsible for much of the House’s legislative tech portfolio, Greg Walden and I have worked well together to conduct oversight and pass important legislation benefiting the public. I congratulate him on receiving the full committee gavel and look forward to continuing our efforts to enact legislation benefiting all Americans.
“I also would like to thank current House Energy and Commerce Committee chairman Fred Upton for his strong leadership and collaboration. He has been a great partner and I look forward to opportunities to continue working with him.”
The Senate Commerce Committee and House Energy and Commerce Committee exercise overlapping jurisdiction in their respective chambers for agencies including the Department of Commerce, Federal Communications Commission, Federal Trade Commission, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
