WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), the chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, today announced the promotion of veteran staff member and South Dakota native Adrian Arnakis to serve as the committee’s deputy staff director.
“Serving on my staff since 2005, last year Adrian’s policy work helped the Senate pass the longest transportation reauthorization bill since 1998,” said Thune. “As a valued and trusted counsel, Adrian will assist me and the committee in continuing to enact policies that benefit our economy and consumers.”
Arnakis, a native of Rapid City, previously served the committee as counsel and policy director of surface transportation and oceans. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Miami (Florida) School of Law, and a member of the Virginia bar. The committee’s previous deputy staff director, Nick Rossi, was promoted to staff director in December.
