WASHINGTON, D.C. – AFL-CIO Transportation Trades Department (TTD), on behalf of millions of aviation workers across the country, endorsed President Biden’s nominee to be the next FAA Administrator, Phil Washington, and called for his swift confirmation.  

“The FAA Administrator position is one of most critical safety jobs in the Department of Transportation,” Greg Regan, President of the TTD, wrote to the Committee. “I have every confidence that Mr. Washington can effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities of this role…”  

“He has earned the support of multiple aviation unions, former FAA leaders and aviation industry organizations, demonstrating his ability to be a coalition builder at a time when we urgently need permanent strong leadership to unite stakeholders around solutions to some of the most pressing safety challenges in our national airspace,” Regan added. “Again, we urge you to swiftly advance the nomination of Phil Washington for this essential leadership post.” 

TTD represents 37 transportation unions including: AFA-CWA, AFSCME, ALPA, CWA, IAM, NATCA, SMART-Transportation Division, PASS, TWU and UNITE HERE.
