Sens. Cruz, Moran Issue Statement Following Release of NTSB Preliminary Report on Recent Alaska Airlines Accident

February 6, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Commerce Committee Ranking Member Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Aviation Subcommittee Ranking Member Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) today issued the following joint statement after the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) issued its preliminary report for its ongoing investigation of last month’s Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 door plug accident.

Sens. Cruz and Moran said:

“We want to thank the NTSB for its professional and thorough work so far on this investigation. The preliminary report includes some disturbing details, and it is clear that a lot of work remains to correct Boeing’s production issues. The Commerce Committee has an obligation to do everything in its power to make sure the flying public is safe, and we stand ready for a future hearing where we will further examine how we can ensure that an incident like this never happens again.”
