Coast Guard Drug Interdiction and Enforcement in the Maritime Environment

U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), Chair of the Subcommittee on Oceans, Fisheries, Climate Change and Manufacturing, which oversees the Coast Guard, will convene a subcommittee hearing titled “Coast Guard Drug Interdiction and Enforcement in the Maritime Environment” on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 10:00 AM EDT. The hearing will evaluate maritime drug interdiction and enforcement activities, focusing on the Coast Guard’s law enforcement and intelligence operations, interagency cooperation, and the agency’s joint role at seaports for inspecting commercial vessels and cargo. The hearing will also consider opportunities to improve the Coast Guard’s mission, including workforce recruitment and retention and acquisitions.
