Research and Development to Protect America's Communities from Disaster

On Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at 2:30 p.m. in room 253 of the Russell Building, the Senate Commerce Committee's Disaster Subcommittee will hold a hearing on research and development to protect America's communities from disaster. The hearing will examine the National Institute of Standards and Technology's recent World Trade Center report, as well as their computer security, and chemical, biological and radiological detection standards. Additionally, the hearing will focus on the National Science Foundations' scientific research in areas such as computer security and data mining, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's work developing atmospheric models to aid in the prediction of the transport and dispersion of chemical and biological releases, including their all hazards alert system.
