Chairman Rockefeller Statement on Senate Confirmation of Nominees to Key Science, Transportation and Safety Posts

(Jay) Rockefeller IV, Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, issued the following statement today after the full Senate confirmed sixty-four Obama administration nominees, the largest package to move through the Senate chamber this year.

“The nominees reported out of the Senate today will fill crucial posts in our government’s transportation, science and safety agencies,” Chairman Rockefeller said. “Given the uncommonly high caliber of these nominees, I expect that they will perform with honor and determination for our nation, adding the experience and expertise needed to tackle some of our most difficult challenges. I applaud each individual and thank them for their service.”

Nominees reported out of the Commerce Committee and today confirmed by the full Senate:

  • Mr. Anthony Coscia, to be a Director of the Amtrak Board of Directors
  • Mr. Albert DiClemente, to be a Director of the Amtrak Board of Directors
  • Mr. Jeffrey Moreland, to be Director of the Amtrak Board of Directors
  • Dr. Earl Weener, to be a Member of the National Transportation Safety Board
  • Dr. Mark Rosekind, to be a Member and Reappointed to the National Transportation Safety Board
  • Mr. David Matsuda, to be Administrator of the Maritime Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation
  • Dr. Daryl Boness, to be Chairman and Reappointed to the U.S. Marine Mammal Commission
  • Dr. Michael Tillman, to be a Member of the U.S. Marine Mammal Commission
