Rockefeller Statement on Committee Approval of Commerce Secretary Nominee
October 6, 2011
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Chairman John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV issued the following statement today after Secretary of Commerce nominee John Bryson was favorably voted out of the Commerce Committee:
“The Committee’s approval of John Bryson today comes at an important crossroads for the country and the Commerce Department. With high unemployment and a slow economic recovery, it is critical that we have a Commerce Secretary in place working to create jobs and promote our economy. Mr. Bryson has a steep challenge ahead, but I believe he will make a real contribution to improving our economy and manufacturing in America. I look forward to his confirmation by the full Senate.”
