Rockefeller on Suspicious Security Incident
May 22, 2012
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Chairman John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV released the following statement today after an incident on a U.S. Airways flight from Paris to Charlotte where a passenger was restrained after an on-flight threat that is currently being investigated:
“I'd like to praise the quick response of the flight crew and authorities to the potential threat on-board the US Airways flight today. We all must remain vigilant as our nation continues to face dangers posed by terrorist groups. Every suspicious incident needs to be taken seriously. We can’t afford to take chances when it comes to our country’s security. The courageous efforts of the individuals on this flight, who are on the front lines of our national security, are critical to preventing another major tragedy."
