Rockefeller on Bipartisan Call for Cybersecurity Action
Senators Urge Inclusion of Proposal to Secure Nation's Critical Infrastructure
June 18, 2012
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Chairman John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV today issued the following statement regarding Senators Olympia Snowe and Mark Warner’s support for full Senate debate on cybersecurity legislation in a letter to Leaders Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell:
“We absolutely must act on cyber legislation without delay, and I commend Senators Warner and Snowe for stating that clearly,” said Rockefeller. “I agree with them that there is ‘tremendous potential’ for reaching consensus on how to protect the critical systems that our country relies on for electricity, water, transportation, telecommunications and other essentials. Our military and intelligence leaders have given us clear advice and urgent requests about what they need from us. We need to act now.”
