Moran Convenes Oversight Hearing on Consumer Product Safety Commission

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), chairman of the Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety, Insurance, and Data Security, will convene the subcommittee for a hearing entitled “Oversight of the Consumer Product Safety Commission” on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at 10:00 a.m.
“Oversight of independent agencies is one of Congress’ primary responsibilities,” Sen. Moran said. “This hearing will give us an opportunity to examine the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s agenda and work to ensure the safety of American consumers.”
The hearing will include discussion of the Commission’s 2016 Performance Budget Request, its current rulemaking agenda, as well as issues identified in recent reports by the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Inspector General.
