Thune Statement on Senate Confirmation of Peter Feldman to the Consumer Product Safety Commission

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), chairman of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, issued the following statement on the Senate confirmation of Peter Feldman to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC):

“I congratulate Peter on his confirmation to serve on the Consumer Product Safety Commission,” said Thune.“His expertise and leadership as a member of the Commerce Committee staff has been instrumental in the committee’s enactment of consumer protection legislation, investigations and oversight of federal agencies. I wish him the best of luck and look forward to working with him in his new role.”


Peter Feldman currently serves as senior counsel on the Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety, Insurance, & Data Security and has been with the committee since November 2011, prior to joining the committee, Peter served on the legislative staff of Senator Mike DeWine (R-OH), as well as in the General Counsel’s office of the National Republican Congressional Committee, and as Regional Communications Director of Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign in 2008.

The CPSC is an independent federal regulatory agency formed in 1972 with a mission to protect the public against unreasonable risks of injury or death from consumer products through education, safety standards activities, regulation, and enforcement. The agency is headed by five commissioners nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate for staggered seven-year terms.
