Wicker Statement on Confirmation of FCC Commissioner

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, today issued the following statement upon the Senate confirmation of Nathan Simington as Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
“Nathan Simington’s confirmation will help ensure a balanced FCC and continued light-touch regulatory approach that has kept the internet free and open for all Americans,” said Wicker. “I look forward to working with him to advance U.S. leadership in 5G, expand access to broadband, and secure our nation’s communications networks.”
On December 2, 2020, the Commerce Committee approved Nathan Simington’s nomination to be Commissioner of the FCC by roll call vote (14-12).
