Sen. Cantwell Statement on Trump FAA Nomination Announcement

Seattle -- U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation issued the followin statement on President Trump's announcement he would nominate Bryan Bedford for FAA Administrator:
“We need an FAA Administrator who is committed to making the United States the gold standard in aviation safety. This includes honoring Secretary Duffy’s commitment to faithfully execute the 1500 hour rule and requiring FAA and industry to implement robust Safety Management Systems. The next Administrator must use data to anticipate and mitigate risk, and prioritize implementation of the FAA Reauthorization Law to ensure the highest safety standards."
