Safety First: Restoring Boeing’s Status as a Great American Manufacturer
10:00 AM
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, will convene a full committee hearing titled “Safety First: Restoring Boeing’s Status as a Great American Manufacturer” on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 10:00 AM EST. The hearing will examine steps Boeing has taken to address production deficiencies and safety issues identified after the Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 incident last year. Since then, Boeing has been subject to additional safety audits and enhanced Federal Aviation Administration oversight.
Upon announcing the hearing on February 14, Sen Cruz said:
“I appreciate that Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg has agreed to testify before the Senate Commerce Committee to detail what steps the company has taken to strengthen its commitment to a safety-focused, quality-driven culture. Boeing has been a great American manufacturer and all of us should want to see it thrive. Given Boeing’s past missteps and problems, the flying public deserves to hear what changes are being made to rehabilitate the company’s tarnished reputation.”
