WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV, Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, sent a letter to three credit card companies—Visa, Inc., American Express, Inc., and MasterCard, Inc.—asking them what they know about the aggressive online sales tactics many online companies use to charge consumers’ credit cards for unwanted club memberships.
